this is a classic fashion advertisement from the 1980's
to sell this particular necklace, the features of the woman shown to the left are being used in interesting ways. as we are all well aware, big hair was a huge deal in the 80's. this is accurately displayed in the ad. make up was also bigger, but maybe not so much better in the 80's. this woman's red lips are definitely something that draws attention, as well as her red nails. her eye make up also draws attention and makes her seem seductive. not only this, but we are not able to see if she is wearing a shirt or not. in previous years, advertisements as scandalous or revealing as this would not have been published. this is just another example of how much advertising fashion has changed over time.
